Bears | Earl Bennett could be asked to take pay cut

The Chicago Bears may ask WR Earl Bennett to take a pay cut this offseason, because he is scheduled to have a $2.45 million salary cap figure next season. Bennett agreed to take a pay cut last offseason.

Footballguys View: Zero surprise here. Bennett is unlikely to remain with the team at his current cap number. We’ll see if he’s open to restructuring his deal.

Redskins | Will stay with 3-4 defense

Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett confirmed the team will stay with the 3-4 defense in 2014.

Footballguys View: A bit of a surprise here given the turnover in Washington this offseason. It’s also a surprise given how terrible Washington’s defense was in 2013. We’ll see if Haslett can get the defense back on the right track this year.

Cowboys | Tight against the salary cap

The Dallas Cowboys are tight against the Salary Cap, which will likely prevent them from doing anything big in free agency. ‘It’s still tight,’ vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday afternoon of the salary cap. ‘I think we always manage through it, but we’re still in a tight situation after coming off the penalties ($10 million for violating league rules on WR Miles Austin contract) and the things like that. We’re still up against it.’
