NFL | To crack down on taunting

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, representing the competition committee, said the league is going to crack down on the conduct on the field. The number of taunting penalties increased from 12 to 34 last season. ‘We’re going to clean up the language,’ Fisher said. ‘There’s no change in our rule, we’re going to enforce the current rule.’

Lions | Ziggy Ansah won’t be ready for offseason workouts

Detroit Lions DE Ziggy Ansah (shoulder, biceps) won’t be ready for offseason workouts and will be brought along slowly. Ansah had surgery on his shoulder, but he also had a biceps issue last season. ‘He may have had an issue with it of some sort and, oftentimes, those things are interconnected, as you well know,’ head coach Jim Caldwell said.

Footballguys View: Ansah was a beast when he was healthy, but that was too often not the case in his rookie year. He is looking like a big hit as the #5 pick in the 2013 draft, but to reach his potential, Ansah will have to avoid this kind of injury frequency and severity.

Rams | Still pursuing Kenny Britt

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said the team is still in the mix with free-agent WR Kenny Britt (Titans).

Footballguys View: The Rams are one of the few teams Britt could actually start for, because 2012 second-round pick Brian Quick has been a bust to this point. His fantasy value would still only be a very late-round flier in redraft leagues, but the destination would give him a chance to rehabilitate his dynasty stock. Britt is still only 25 years old, as he came into the league as the youngest player in the NFL.
