Vikings | Charles Johnson on track to make team?

Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson is likely competing with WR Moritz Boehringer for a spot on the roster, according to beat writer Matt Vensel, who also mentioned that Johnson had a strong spring while working mainly with the first-team offense.

Footballguys View: Johnson created a ton of buzz last offseason, but was banged up and never followed through in the regular season. Boehringer has a ton of size/speed upside, but he has only played as high as semi-pro ball in Germany and is more likely a practice squad candidate.

49ers | Michael Wilhoite has chance to start

San Francisco 49ers LB Michael Wilhoite probably will enter training camp as the leading candidate for one of the inside linebacker jobs but will have to compete with LBs Gerald Hodges and Ray Ray Armstrong for the job. All three players could receive playing time during the season depending on the opponent.

Footballguys View: The 49ers have competition for starting spots all over their roster, which isn’t a great sign on a roster bereft of proven talent. The defense has plummeted since being comparable to the Seahawks a few short years ago.
