San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde is an ideal fit for new head coach Chip Kelly’s offense, according to general manager Trent Baalke.
Footballguys View: Hyde is a downhill runner and should be good on inside zone runs, but the 49ers offensive line is built more for drive blocking, so Kelly’s ability to fit his scheme to his personnel will be under the microscope here, especially with a strong-minded GM like Trent Baalke playing his counterpart. Hyde will be a boom/bust 3rd-4th round running back pick depending on the quality of quarterback play the 49ers get and the size of Mike Davis’s role in the backfield.
