San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (arm) could start the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers Friday, Aug. 26, since QB Blaine Gabbert started the first two preseason games.

Footballguys View: The 49ers appear reluctant to anoint Gabbert the starter, so if Kaepernick is functional, he could win this job. It would be better for the 49ers running game, but Kaepernick took all the wind out of the sails of the passing game last year.
