San Francisco 49ers fourth-round pick RB Joe Williams has a ‘legitimate chance’ to ‘immediately unseat’ RB Carlos Hyde as the team’s top running back this season, according to CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.

Footballguys View: The 49ers new regime doesn’t seem to be enamored with Hyde at all. He’s in the final year of his contract, but the 49ers may move him behind Williams on the depth chart. Williams is a runner who can create space for himself in a variety of ways. He’s got burst to and through the hole, and he can make defenders miss in the open field. Williams is not a third-down back, but he can lead the way in a RBBC as the featured runner.
