The Chicago Bears traded DE Jared Allen to the Carolina Panthers Monday, Sept. 28, in exchange for a conditional draft pick. The Bears are paying $11.5 million of Allen’s salary, while Carolina will pay him $823,000, according to sources.
Footballguys View: Allen did not fit into the Bears 3-4 defense, and he should look more at home as a defensive end with the Panthers. Charles Johnson is banged up with a hamstring injury, so the Panthers needed to make a move to add a pass-rusher. Allen is not the same player he used to be, but he could work well as a part-time player for the Panthers.
