As of early Monday, July 16, the Chicago Bears have yet to come to terms on a new deal with franchise free-agent RB Matt Forte. Forte indicated progress had been made during the last few weeks and he entered the weekend optimistic about securing a lucrative contract by the deadline. However, neither the Bears nor Forte’s agent, Adisa Bakari, have spoken publicly to clarify the status of negotiations.
