The Cincinnati Bengals are planning to place their franchise tag on impending free-agent DE Michael Johnson.

Our View: A wise move by the Bengals here. Johnson is a key piece to their pass rush and if they can’t work out a long-term deal the team can easily afford his $11.2MM price tag. Currently the Bengals are approximately $54MM under the cap. The team also has to work to re-sign RT Andre Smith.
