Denver Broncos WRs Cody Latimer and Bennie Fowler are expected to compete for the No. 3 wide receiver job during training camp. Latimer has performed well during offseason workouts during the last few seasons but has not recorded great numbers during the regular season. Fowler had a decent role in the passing game in 2015 but injuries and inconsistency dropped him on the depth chart.
Footballguys View: It’s a make-or-break year for Latimer. He’s flashed in practice, but bad chemistry with Peyton Manning led him to be unproductive over the last two years with the Broncos. With only 8 catches in his pro career (after the Broncos moved up in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft to get him), Latimer needs to start producing as more than just a special teams player. Fowler may take his spot behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. The former Michigan State WR plays larger than his size, is physical at the point of the catch and fearless running routes over the middle.
