Denver Broncos second-year RB Ronnie Hillman saw his role diminished in practice today. He worked behind rookie Montee Ball for the first time all offseason after fumbling in back-to-back weeks of the preseason. Hillman was seen carrying a football with him everywhere as a reminder of how critical ball security is.
Footballguys View: Hillman needs to hang onto the rock if he wants to see the field. He was running hard against the Rams before losing a fumble that was stripped away as he went to the ground. Hillman is the most explosive back on the roster but will see his role marginalized until he proves he won’t fumble. The Broncos will use a RBBC this year featuring Ball, Hillman, and veteran Knowshon Moreno.
