The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not sold on Josh Freeman as their QB of the future according to former agent Joel Corry from CBSSports.com. The team is comfortable letting Freeman play out the final season of his five-year, $32.14 million rookie contract. They also added a QB they think could be the long-term answer when they selected Mike Glennon (NC State) in the third-round of the 2013 NFL draft.
Our View: Freeman finished the season on a down note with nine interceptions over the last three games of the season. Before week 15 Freeman had 25 TD passes and only eight interceptions. He set franchise records for passing yards (4,065) and passing touchdowns (27) in 2012. Freeman could get a large contract if he plays more consistently and stays away from the mistakes that plagued him late last season. The Buccaneers have to realize Glennon may need more work to develop as a passer and rushing him into the starting lineup this year or next may not be the best idea.
