The San Diego Chargers and head coach Mike McCoy are speeding up the playcalling this season, and the calls will go straight from a coach to QB Philip Rivers, without a middleman. ‘It gets in quicker,’ McCoy said. ‘It gives Philip more time.’ As a result, theoretically, the team will be less prone to delay of game penalties and rushed snaps. Offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt will be the main play caller.
Footballguys View: An important note for fantasy owners here. The Chargers have a poor defense and should be playing from behind a lot. This could mean more touches for RB Danny Woodhead. The up tempo offense is also good for QB Philip Rivers. He can get rid of the ball quicker and avoid pressure.
