The Kansas City Chiefs are working on a long-term deal with impending free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe but could place the franchise tag on him if a deal is not reached by Monday, March 4. Bowe would get a one-year, $11.4 million tender if he receives the franchise tag because it will be the second consecutive year to receive the tag and would get 20 percent raise. Bowe made $9.4 million this season.
Our View: It’s looking more and more like Bowe is going to be staying with the Chiefs in 2013. The new regime knows they need a WR1 now that they’ve traded for QB Alex Smith. Bowe should have no problem becoming Smith’s favorite target.
