Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi ran for 13 yards on three carries in the team’s final preseason game Thursday, September 1, but he also lost a fumble on the first play of the game and committed a drop in the passing game as well.
Footballguys View: Ajayi needed a big night to really secure a split with Arian Foster for carries, but that fumble is going to hurt, as is the drop. When you get a chance to perform, you’d better do so or you won’t get another shot easily. Foster is going to see some rest, but Ajayi isn’t going to get as many carries as he could have had he been healthy and consistent this summer. This game was just icing on the cake. That said, we still don’t love this offense enough to put Foster above an RB3 with upside, which is right where his ADP is. Unfortunately this pushes Ajayi to RB4/RB5 status.
