Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard is going into the final year of his rookie contract and awaits a contract extension. The Dolphins could wait for him to play out the year before potentially extending his contract, however, in the opinion of The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero. The main reason being Howard has an extensive injury history and Miami would want to make sure he can stay healthy in 2019 before offering him big money. Howard was tied for the league lead in interceptions in 2018 (7) but has missed 13 games over his three-year career. He will cost $1.95 million against the salary cap this season.
