Atlanta Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon (Achilles’) suffered a ruptured Achilles’ tendong Tuesday, June 10, and he will miss the 2014 season.

Footballguys View: This is a huge blow for the Falcons defense. Weatherspoon was recovering from the knee injury that knocked him out of nine games last year. Overall, Weatherspoon has missed 12 games over the last two seasons. The Falcons will be in scramble mode without Weatherspoon. We’ll see rookie Prince Shembo get a larger role now. The Falcons are going to have a tough time stopping anybody, and that’s good news for their offense. They’ll have to win plenty of high-scoring games in 2014.
