New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley averaged only 2.1 yards per carry on runs outside the tackles in 2019 after picking up 4.4 yards per attempt on such runs as a rookie.

Footballguys View: The Giants had a poor offensive line last year and that’s one of the reasons why we saw Barkley struggle at times in year two. Add in the fact that he was banged up for most of the year and missed three games, and you can see why Barkley’s numbers didn’t get close to the amazing output he had as a rookie in 2018. With an improved offensive line and full health, Barkley could easily be in for a bounce-back season in 2020.
