Giants | Teammate does not think Hakeem Nicks will return in 2014

New York Giants OT David Diehl said he does not believe the team will re-sign WR Hakeem Nicks in the offseason because the team signed WR Victor Cruz to a long-term deal and another team likely will pay him more money. ‘I would love to see it. He is like a brother to me. He lived with me when he first got drafted by the Giants because we have the same agent. So I knew him coming out of college. But for the sheer fact that we just paid Victor Cruz, there is a lot of money to be had and Hakeem Nicks is a No. 1 receiver and someone is going to pay him that money,’ Diehl said.

Footballguys View: This isn’t a shock considering the rumors Nicks would be traded as well as his lackluster and at times his almost lazy play this year. Ruben Randle has started to creep into a similar role to Nicks’ so the team may just role with him next year. They have so many holes that they need to spend the money elsewhere anyway.
