Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said Mike Kafka has ‘just as good an opportunity’ to win the starting QB jon as Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne or undrafted rookie Matt Scott. Caldwell had considered signing Kafka earlier in the offseason. The New England Patriots signed him but cut Kafka when they signed Tim Tebow.
Our View: That tells you a lot about the state of the QBs in Jacksonville. Gabbert is in a make or break year yet all we’re hearing is about how bad he looks at OTAs. We’ll see how this QB competition plays out in training camp. We won’t be surprised to see Chad Henne open the year as the starter for the Jaguars.
