New York Jets DT Nathan Shepherd will turn 25 in October, but his age is not a problem, according to general manager Mike Maccagnan, and head coach Todd Bowles said Shepherd is ‘more pro-ready’ than he is given credit for.
Footballguys View: A guy who had to take time off from school to work so he could pay for school, Shepherd is pretty raw, which makes this a risky pick given his age. He’s got an NFL frame and body, and could conceivably line up outside on occasion. He’s got a lot to learn but Leo Williams could be a great influence on him, and he showed at the Senior Bowl that he can play with the best.
