New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, May 12.

Footballguys View: Based on film study, Hackenberg is in no way ready to take over as the Jets starting quarterback, so the best case scenario is is to let him sit and help him get over the trauma of being destroyed the last two years behind shoddy offensive lines. Worst case scenario is the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick never come to terms, Geno Smith continues to be Geno Smith and Hackenberg needs to play during what looks to be a brutal schedule. Maybe Hackenberg can be repaired and find a way to play at the level he did when Bill O’Brien coached him at Penn State, but we’re dubious about that.
