Updating a previous report, the New York Jets could announce the status of head coach Rex Ryan as early as Sunday, Dec. 29, and it is believed he will return to the team next season. Ryan and general manager John Idzik met at the team’s facility Friday, Dec. 27, but it is not known if Ryan will receive a contract extension since 2014 is the final year of his contract.
