New York Jets QB Geno Smith said he believes he will be the starting quarterback this upcoming season even though the team added QB Michael Vick this offseason. He said he believes his play will improve with another year in the offense. Smith believes he will be able to learn from Vick because Vick has experience.
Footballguys View: Smith played well at the end of the season, and he has continuity and chemistry with returning skill players like Jeff Cumberland and Jeremy Kerley. This will be a true competition in camp, and if Smith wins, it will mean that he has progressed well during the offseason. Vick had his best seasons under Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg when both were in Philadelphia, so the veteran is not coming in cold to a brand new offense for him.
