The New York Jets are not close to a long-term deal for DE Muhammad Wilkerson, according to a team source. The team plans to exercise his fifth-year option before the May 3 deadline, the source said. The Jets could revisit a contract extension this summer, but it’s unlikely that they’ll consider a long-term deal this offseason unless Wilkerson accepts a team-friendly contract. He’ll earn $1.2 million in 2014, and he’s in line for $5.25 million to $6 million under his 2015 team option.
