The battle for the starting quarterback job for the New York Jets is technically still open between QB Mark Sanchez (shoulder) and QB Geno Smith, but that might only be because Sanchez is banged up and uncertain for Week 1. Smith was terrible in the team’s last preseason game, and it is believed if Smith were the clear-cut choice by Ryan to start, it would have been announced already.
