NFL | Jaylon Smith’s health a concern

Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith (knee) has been taken off the draft board by three teams so far due to concerns regarding his knee injury, according to sources. Smith is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn lateral collateral ligament and may miss all of the 2016 season. Smith added that he did not suffer any nerve damage with the injury and is confident he’ll return at 100%, he just doesn’t know when that will be.

Footballguys View: Smith could have been the first-overall pick if not for this injury (which happened on a cheap shot). Now, he may fall to the second or third day of the draft. However, there’s still a chance that Smith could go off the board in the late first round. His natural talent is off the charts. If healthy, Smith can play any linebacker position and star in coverage, run-defense and as a pass-rusher.
