Former Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said he understands he likely will not coach for a team next season but hopes to continue his coaching career in the future. He said he does expect to do some consulting for work a team during offseason workouts and training camp.

Footballguys View: It’s in his blood. Phillips is the son of legendary head coach Bum Phillips, and he’s a quality defensive coordinator. He shouldn’t be out of work for that long.
