Carolina Panthers WR Jason Avant has earned praise form head coach Ron Rivera for the leadership he has shown to WR Kelvin Benjamin and the team’s other receivers. ‘Jason does things exactly the way you want them – he’s a pro,’ Rivera said. ‘In all honesty, the thought was that if you could have a couple of veteran guys who have been there and done that around a Kelvin Benjamin, that could be very good for him. And Jason has not just been good for Benjamin, he’s been good for a whole lot of guys.’

Footballguys View: The Panthers need all the help they can get. The team has arguably the worst group of receivers in the NFL. Avant is one of the most senior members of the group, and he may earn a starting or slot role with the team this year. Benjamin and one of Tavarres King, Marvin McNutt, Jerricho Cotchery and Avant will battle for the rest of the spots in the starting lineup.
