Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart is due up to $9.5 million over the next two seasons with an $8 million base value. His new deal freed up $2.075 million in cap space for 2017.
Footballguys View: The Panthers moved some money around with Stewart, and his role may change this season. We’re expecting the Panthers to take a RB with the no.8 selection in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. If they select someone like Leonard Fournette (LSU), then Stewart would take a back seat to the rookie. Stewart has already publicly declared he’s okay with the team drafting a running back.
