New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski’s season averages are down across the board so far in 2012. His receptions are down nearly a catch per game from last season and he’s gaining about 30 fewer yards each week. He is averaging 4.7 receptions and 52 yards per contest this season, as opposed to 5.6 receptions and 82.9 yards in 2011. TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) being sidelined with an ankle injury, New England’s inconsistent pass protection and QB Tom Brady’s struggles with downfield throws have all contributed to Gronkowski’s slow start.
