The Oakland Raiders have yet to approach impending free-agent OT Jared Veldheer with long-term extension talks this offseason. Veldheer wants to remain with the team, and the Raiders have said in the past that they want to keep him around. ‘I’m staying patient, but a little bit of urgency from the other side would be nice,’ Veldheer said. ‘But I’m doing my best to stay optimistic and things should take care of themselves here in the end.’ The Raiders will have more than $60 million in salary cap space available. Veldheer said contract talks haven’t gone sour, just a little stale. General manager Reggie McKenzie prefers not to use the franchise tag.
