Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis believes he’s lost playing time to TE Jordan Reed for financial purposes. Davis has a $500,000 clause in his contract that is tied to the number of games he’s active, and he’s been listed as inactive three times this year, twice when healthy. Head coach Mike Shanahan denies that is a reason for the team straying from using Davis. TE Logan Paulsen, who is the team’s best blocker, is even ahead of Davis on the tight end depth chart. ‘I like it here. I was drafted here,’ Davis said. ‘But at the end of the day, I just want to play. If I can’t play here, then I did want to play somewhere else.’ Shanahan cites Davis’ poor work ethic as one of the reasons he’s lost playing time.
