Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said QB Robert Griffin III (knee) will need two to three weeks to return to ‘football shape,’ and he’ll be limited to 7-on-7 drills initially. ‘Even though he’s cleared, I’ve got to see it on the football field,’ Shanahan said. ‘It just doesn’t happen like that. If you’re dealing with trainers, you’re dealing with doctors, they can tell you when that knee’s ready to go, but they can’t tell you when he’s ready to play.’ Shanahan sees no reason why Griffin should play in preseason games.
