Washington Redskins QB Alex Smith (leg) is not expected to play this season, in the opinion of RB Chris Thompson. ‘We know and understand that it’s probably not going to happen that we have him this year,’ Thompson admitted. The Redskins have discussed a new deal with QB Josh Johnson, but QB Colt McCoy is slated to start the year if Smith can’t go. Smith is in the midst of a an extensive recovery from a severe compound leg fracture late in the season.
