New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has made it perfectly clear that the team still views TE Jimmy Graham as a tight end and not a receiver. The Saints would have to pay Graham considerably less with the franchise tag if he’s deemed a tight end instead of a wide receiver. Loomis would prefer to work out a long-term contract with Graham, but the team is willing to franchise tag him if necessary. Last year, the franchise tag for a receiver was $10.5 million versus $6 million for tight ends. Graham lined up as a receiver on 67 percent of his snaps in 2013. He’s expected to become the highest paid tight end in the game after hauling in 16 touchdowns in 2013.
