Houston Texans impending free-agent CB A.J. Bouye likely will not receive the franchise tag this offseason because of the team’s salary cap situation. The Texans are expected to have around $25 million in salary cap space available, but Bouye would be scheduled to receive a little more than $14 million in 2017 if he received the franchise tag.
Footballguys View: The Texans would like to keep Bouye around, but they’ll have to work out a long-term deal with him. Bouye is one of the best free agents at any position set to hit the open market. He could land a deal that makes him a top-10 paid cornerback in the league with an annual average salary around $12 million or more.
