Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach John McNulty said QB Jake Locker uses good posture in the pocket and plays on his toes, which helps him move from one target to another. ‘Once you step to one guy, you can’t just step over. You’ve got to be in that football position and move your whole operation. I think that helps him, he plays kind of up on his toes, he’s always in a football position. Some of these big guys are straight up and down and when their first guy is not there, their foot is planted and they just step to the next guy. It’s really as much getting your shoulders and hips in line as it is your feet. The way he plays, he’s able to do that,’ McNulty said.
Footballguys View: This should come as no surprise. Locker has always been mechanically sound, both in throwing mechanics and footwork. The problem of accuracy still remains, and it’s quite a mystery that nobody has been able to solve. How do you fix accuracy when mechanics are sound? Locker had 54 percent accuracy in college at Washington. During his pro career Locker averaged a 57 percent completion rating. The league average is 61.7 percent.
