Minnesota Vikings DE Jared Allen has not been negotiating with the team for a new long-term deal even though he’s entering the final year of his contract in 2013. He only had 12 sacks last season as he fought through nagging shoulder and knee problems. It is crucial for Allen to erase any concerns that his dropoff was due to age since he will turn 32 next year.
Our View: Allen needs to stay healthy if he wants to play up to his potential. He had off-season surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and a torn meniscus in his right knee. We’ll see if he can get back on track this year and push for the NFL lead in sacks.
