Dan Wiederer, from the Star-Tribune, reports Vikings rookie WR Greg Childs has been missing practice because of a calf strain he hurt during rookie minicamp last month. This injury is unrelated to the torn patellar tendon that held him back his final two years in college.
Our View: Our very own Cecil Lammey watched Childs from the sidelines of practice at the Shrine Game earlier this year and came away unimpressed. Yes, before the injury Childs was an intriguing prospect with a good size/speed combination. During his senior year (and at the Shrine Game) he struggled to get off the line of scrimmage cleanly. Even when he gets into his route he still struggles to get separation. If he can get back to full strength then he’s an interesting dynasty prospect to keep an eye on. However, at this point he has a long way to go.
