Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he will have to improve on his running of all of the routes with QB Peyton Manning taking over as the starting quarterback. Thomas said he did not have to run all of the routes in his first few seasons in the NFL.

Ward said he expects to have a big season in 2012 because he has been working out this offseason and has not had to deal with any injuries. ‘I expect to have a big year,’ Ward said. ‘I’ve been working really hard. I’m looking to bounce back from my injury from last year and just have a really good, productive, successful season. I’m so hungry. I’m more determined not only to be one of the best safeties in the NFL, but one of the best players at any position. That’s my mindset. So I’m very excited about this season. I’m very excited to test myself.’

Buffalo Bills secondary coach George Catavolos said FS Jairus Byrd struggled being looked off certain routes by opposing quarterbacks last season and trying to jump other routes. Byrd said he has been watching film this offseason so he can be more disciplined this season. ‘On film you get to know where they’re at and it also goes a little bit more toward seeing the bigger picture,’ Byrd said. ‘You kind of get a feel for knowing where people are positioned, where the hot keys are. If he’s looking one way and nobody is really over there you know he’s trying to get you to move there, so you have to be smart about it.’
