Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher (knee) said he is confident he will be ready for the start of training camp. When asked Tuesday, June 26, if he would participate in the first day of camp July 26, Urlacher answered, ‘for sure.’ Urlacher was sidelined for voluntary offseason workouts and held out of the team’s mandatory minicamp. His offseason rehab consisted of extensive work in the weight room and sprints. ‘I could have participated in minicamp, but there was no reason to,’ Urlacher said. ‘It was three days of stuff that I’m going to be doing at training camp, so there was no real reason to push it.’

Giants | Chris Canty thinks highly of Jason Pierre-Paul
New York Giants DL Chris Canty said teammate DL Jason Pierre-Paul has the potential to be as good as former NFL DL Reggie White. ‘There is really nobody in the league right now that you can compare him to,’ Canty said. ‘The only person that kind of sticks out where you can compare him to – and I can’t believe I am saying this – but he reminds me a lot of Reggie White. His ability to play all those different positions and to impact the football game the way he does, he is an unbelievable talent.’

Chiefs | High expectations for team in 2012
Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel said the team has high expectations entering the upcoming season. ‘With every season, there’s a lot of changes,’ Cassel said. ‘But I feel like as long as we go out there and execute and play good football my expectations are very high for this team.’ Cassel added he is fine again after missing the last seven weeks of the season with a hand injury. ‘I feel great, I’m ready to roll,’ Cassel said. ‘I feel like our team will come out stronger. We suffered through a lot of injuries last year to some key people but they should be coming back stronger and the coaches are very optimistic.’
