Philadelphia Eagles CBs Brandon Boykin and Joselio Hanson are expected to battle for the slot role on defense. Hanson is viewed as solid inside, but it remains to be seen if he could play outside with any consistency if CBs Nnamdi Asomugha or Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie goes down to injury.

Phil Taylor still set on playing for Cleveland Browns
When Phil Taylor tore a chest muscle this offseason, it was feared he’d be out for the year. Though the defensive tackle is moving cautiously, he’s still determined to see the field next season.

Eagles | Too early to tell roles of younger CBs
It is too early in the game to figure out the roles of Philadelphia Eagles CBs Brandon Hughes, Trevard Lindley and Curtis Marsh. It will take until training camp and the preseason to figure out their defined roles, but someone will need to step up as the third cornerback with CB Asante Samuel gone.

Eagles | Expected to use more press coverage
The Philadelphia Eagles might use more press coverage, as CBs Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are considered better used in press position when they can take advantage of their size. Most teams do not have starting corners over 6-feet, while both Asomugha and Rodgers-Cromartie are above that height.

Eagles | DeMeco Ryans did not appear limited
Philadelphia Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans (Achilles’) did not appear to be limited during mandatory minicamp. He suffered the Achilles’ injury a few seasons ago. Ryans was basically a two-down defender last season, playing in roughly 58 percent of the defensive snaps for the Houston Texans last season.

Eagles | Darryl Tapp needs to step up

Eagles | Brandon Graham looked noticeably lighter
Philadelphia Eagles DL Brandon Graham looked noticeably lighter during the team’s mandatory minicamp. Last season he showed up to training camp out of shape. Graham will be trying to hold off charges from DLs Vinny Curry and Phillip Hunt for a prominent role.

Cowboys | Ronald Leary looking for meaningful role
Dallas Cowboys OG Ronald Leary (knee) was graded as a third-round talent during his time at the University of Memphis, but he went undrafted due to concerns over a knee injury he suffered in 2010. Leary saw some reps with the first-team offense during some drills near the end of organized team activities (OTAs), although he will be competing with OG David Arkin and OG Mackenzy Bernadeau (hip), when the latter is healthy.
