Dallas Cowboys OG Mackenzy Bernadeau (hip) might miss a sizeable portion of training camp and the preseason, as he is still recovering from offseason hip surgery. Bernadeau is likely to start out on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, according to team vice president Stephen Jones.

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews is the unquestioned starting tailback, but it gets murky after that on the depth chart. RB Ronnie Brown is viewed as being at the tail end of his career. Brown will try to hold off RB Curtis Brinkley for the primary backup role behind Mathews. RB Edwin Baker and FB Le’Ron McClain will also be in the mix for carries.

Cleveland Browns DL Phil Taylor (pectoral) mentioned DL Scott Paxson as a possible replacement, playing next to DL Ahtyba Rubin at defensive tackle. Taylor is expected to miss a chunk of the season after surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. DLs John Hughes and Billy Winn are also in the mix, and they are all expected to compete for the job in training camp and the preseason.

Cleveland Browns DL Phil Taylor (pectoral) said Tuesday, June 26, that his rehab from torn pectoral muscle surgery is going great, and he expects to play at some point this season. Taylor tore his left pectoral muscle bench-pressing during the team’s offseason conditioning program May 10, and he had surgery May 16. ‘I’m itching to get back, but I’m not going to rush it,’ Taylor said.

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman will get a chance in training camp and the preseason to show what he can do, and it is possible he can emerge as the primary backup to RB Willis McGahee if RB Knowshon Moreno is cut. Hillman is also viewed as a better fit in the stretch running game with QB Peyton Manning at the helm, so the thinking is that Hillman could conceivably take over as a starter at some point.

Dan Arkush, from Pro Football Weekly, reports the Cardinals seemed determined not to rush rookie WR Michael Floyd. In fact, he is likely to begin training camp as the 4th WR on the depth chart behind Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts, and Early Doucet.

Judd Zulgad, from 1500 ESPN, reports Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier hinted that RB Adrian Peterson could begin training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform List. “He’s moving around without any hitch, he’s doing a lot of good things,” Frazier said. “What you don’t know is how he’s going to be when you put pads on and someone comes and they dive at his ankle or they look as if they’re going to grab his knee. That you can’t predict. But based on where he is today, everything is moving in the right direction. I don’t know if we’ll put him on the practice field anytime soon when we get to Mankato. But everything indicates there’s a very good chance he may be ready for that Jacksonville game. We’re still far enough out that you really can’t say that right now.”
