Ravens | Marshal Yanda confident in line

Baltimore Ravens OG Marshal Yanda said he likes the team’s depth at offensive line and is confident that the offensive line will have a good season in 2012. ‘We definitely have enough guys where if someone goes down, or if something happens, then we know we’ll have enough depth,’ Yanda said. ‘It’s early in this thing yet, obviously we haven’t even started training camp yet, so we’ll see what happens. Bills | Shawne Merriman fine with backup role

Buffalo Bills DE Shawne Merriman said he is willing to accept his backup role and will be ready to play when asked this season. ‘My biggest thing is being ready and whenever my name is called to know mentally what I’m doing and physically being able to do it. It’s a physical game, a violent game. Certain guys go down. Something can happen, and the next guy has to be ready. That’s how I’m gauging it right now,’ Merriman said.

Bills | Stephon Gilmore impressive during workouts

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he was impressed with how CB Stephon Gilmore looked during offseason workouts. ‘He has done really an excellent job. Everything that we have asked him to do, to pick up, to adjust to-he has handled it so well. He is very mature beyond his years. He really is. He has done an excellent job. I think he has a chance to be a very good player if the same things show up in pads that showed up in shorts,’ Gailey said.

Buccaneers | Coach impressed with Doug Martin’s blocking

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running backs coach Earnest Byner said he has been impressed with how RB Doug Martin has performed as a pass blocker during offseason workouts. ‘The thing that they struggle with most of the time is pass protection and especially nickel pass protection, but I don’t think that’s going to be an issue with him,’ Byner said. ‘He has done some good things. He has some quickness. Doug is really smart, and eager to grab some of the concepts that we are teaching. He is excited to come out here and play for the Buccaneers.’
