Lions | Jim Schwartz agrees to extension

The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms on a contract extension with head coach Jim Schwartz. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Our View: The Lions have improved their win/loss record every year with Schwartz in control. With QB Matthew Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson leading the way the Lions are set with a high powered passing game. Their defense has improved, and the team is working to upgrade their secondary this year. We could see the Lions make another playoff push in 2012.

Rams | Lance Kendricks expected to big role in offense

St. Louis Rams TE Lance Kendricks is expected to have a prominent role in offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s offense based how he was used during offseason workouts.

Our View: Schottenheimer made Jets TE Dustin Keller into a top 10 player at the position (2010, 2011), and he could do the same with Kendricks. The second-year pro looked lost at times as a rookie, but has a good natural skill set and can produce as a move TE.

Broncos | No interest in QB McNabb?

Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for 102.3 ESPN Denver and senior writer at Footballguys.com, reports via Twitter that he’s heard the Denver Broncos have no interest in free agent QB Donovan McNabb. Currently the Broncos have Caleb Hanie, Adam Weber, and rookie Brock Osweiler behind starter Peyton Manning.

Our View: Upon signing Manning in free agency, Broncos VP John Elway stated there was ‘no plan B’ behind the superstar QB. Hanie is considered by some as the primary backup, but he’s struggled during minicamp and OTAs. However, Osweiler has looked like an improved QB this offseason. There’s a chance the rookie could win the primary backup job behind Manning in training camp.

Rams | Lance Kendricks says fatigue was problem in 2011

St. Louis Rams TE Lance Kendricks said he watched film on himself last season and saw that most of the mistakes he made during the season was when he was tired. ‘The main thing I saw was a lot of times when I was tired was when I made my most mistakes,’ Kendricks said. ‘Just being able to stay focused and fight through that and compete and go out there and just perform when I am tired was my main thing I wanted to do better. When you get tired, you can forget things and I would have a mental error here or there so I think most of it just came from fatigue.’ Kendricks added five pounds of muscle this offseason to improve his stamina and is looking to be more focused during games.

Our View: We still love the natural skill set Kendricks has and see him as a buy low ‘lottery ticket’ type of prospect in dynasty leagues. Kendricks showed good ball skills in college, but looked lost at times on the field last year as a rookie. If he can play up to his potential Kendricks could become a favorite target of QB Sam Bradford.

Texans | Matt Schaub to meet with doctor

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (foot) will meet with Dr. Robert Anderson within the next two weeks and expects to receive full medical clearance to participate in training camp.

Our View: If Schaub stays healthy this year we expect the Texans to be a serious contender for the Super Bowl. Even though he should be cleared for camp we think the Texans will ease him back so they don’t aggravate his foot injury.
