Ravens | Anquan Boldin moving better

Baltimore Ravens WR Anquan Boldin (knee) said Monday, July 30, that he is ‘moving a lot better’ in training camp this year. He had a scope for a partially torn meniscus last year.

Our View: Boldin got a lot of attention from defenses last year, but the emergence of Torrey Smith should change that. He is a value pick if he falls to the double digit rounds.

Ravens | Tandon Doss nursing hamstring injury

Baltimore Ravens WR Tandon Doss (hamstring) missed practice Monday, July 30, due to a hamstring injury.

Our View: Doss is competing for a roster spot with the addition of speedsters Tommy Streeter and Deonte Thompson. He had a good spring and first few days of camp, but this injury could threaten his chances if it lingers.

Ravens | Davon Drew to work as No. 2 TE for now

Baltimore Ravens TE Davon Drew is the new backup to primary starting TE Ed Dickson while TE Dennis Pitta (hand) recovers from a broken hand, per head coach John Harbaugh.

Our View: Drew is a converted quarterback with good overall size and athleticism. He could keep the two tight end set in play if Pitta misses time.

Ravens | Bryant McKinnie placed on NFI list

The Baltimore Ravens placed OT Bryant McKinnie (back) on the non-football injury (NFI) list Monday, July 30, according to a league source. ‘B-Mac is here, came in yesterday, started the process of getting his physical finished up this morning,’ head coach John Harbaugh said. ‘He and I had a long conversation, a very good conversation. Like I’ve said many times, I think the world of B-Mac. I do believe he’s a hard work. I do believe he’s been working hard, but he’s not ready to practice yet. When he’s ready to practice he’ll be out there. He strained a muscle in his back. I didn’t ask him how he did it, but he said he fell.’

Notes, quotes and other random stuff from the Cowboys first day of training camp…

Out here in Oxnard, Calif., was an opening ceremony featuring three(!) skydivers, a marching band, and cheerleaders. Owner Jerry Jones asked fans to help him kick the Giants butt, and Oxnard Mayor Dr. Thomas E. Holden was on hand. So were 5,266 fans. What else happened today? A quick run-through… after you watch my hit from NFL Network’s Total Access. – First, three players failed the Cowboys conditioning test, including RB Felix Jones. Just an inexcusable thing. Jones missed mini-camp with a shoulder injury, and coach Jason Garrett was essentially asked if that made it OK. “We would anticipate all of […]
