Moss received great reviews during offseason workouts. ‘His motivation level is high,’ Jacobs said. ‘I think Moss has a chip on his shoulder. I’ve spoken to him a lot, and he starts off everything with, ‘Just wait.’ He’s got a chip on his shoulder, he’s ready to go out there and show everybody that he can play still.’

New York Jets QB Tim Tebow, formerly of the Denver Broncos, had a message for QB Peyton Manning at the ESPY Awards Wednesday, July 11. Tebow told Manning to take care of his former teammates. ‘I also want to congratulate and thank all of my old teammates – take care of them, Peyton – and I just want to thank them all.’

New Orleans Saints franchise free-agent QB Drew Brees is optimistic he will sign a long-term deal by the July 16 deadline. ‘I’m an eternal optimist, so I’m still very confident a deal will get done by Monday,’ Brees said. ‘I think I’ve been around this league long enough to understand how this works at times. In a lot of cases, it does go down to the wire, and you need a stopping point in order to bring everyone together and make sure it can get done. That stopping point is Monday, so let’s hope we get something done by then.’
