Panthers | Support Ryan Kalil’s Super Bowl guarantee

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton said the team stands behind C Ryan Kalil’s Super Bowl guarantee 110 percent. ‘Well, if anybody on this team, if they go out on a limb and make a statement we have to back him up 110 percent, every single play,’ Newton said. ‘We’re out here trying to sharpen plays and work on technique. And we’re just going to try to do our part. Each day and each play at a time.’ Newton said he had no idea Kalil planned on making his prediction, but believes the confidence is important for an emerging team.

49ers | Jim Harbaugh defends A.J. Jenkins

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh defended the selection of WR A.J. Jenkins in the first round of the NFL Draft, even though Jenkins has struggled early on. ‘A.J. Jenkins was an outstanding football player when he got here,’ Harbaugh said. ‘His progress has been very, very good, and exceeded expectations. For those – the scribes, pundits, so-called experts – who have gone so far as to say that he’s going to be a bust, should just stop. I recommend that because they’re making themselves look more clueless than they already did.’

Cowboys | Owner comments on Dez Bryant

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said WR Dez Bryant must realize his arrest has to be taken very seriously. Jones said it was premature to discuss possible punishment since the team and the league were still gathering information. ‘There is no doubt that Dez Bryant is exceptionally talented. It has certainly served to give him the consideration that’s he’s gotten frankly in life. And I think he, like us all, have got to realize where your bread is buttered,’ Jones said. ‘You’ve got to realize that that is not there for you if you do not adhere to society’s rules. He’s got to realize that.’ Jones added Bryant and the team know controversy is not good overall for the Cowboys and is not good for the league, and that there are consequences.
