Vikings | Adrian Peterson will likely be fined

Updating an ongoing story, Houston Police Department Spokesperson Kese Smith said that Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson would probably end up with a fine for his involvement in a nightclub incident because Peterson’s charge is a misdemeanor. Peterson is due back in court July 13 and has no known prior record. Smith said he’d believed that Peterson’s case would be adjudicated quickly. Peterson’s arrest document indicates he pushed a police officer and that Peterson knew it was an officer.

Texans | Brian Cushing should emerge as a leader

Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing is expected to take on more of a leadership role following the departure of LB DeMeco Ryans to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason. ‘I think so. And that’s completely fine with me,’ Cushing said. ‘I feel that last year really prepped me for a leadership role. Leaning from a guy like him for three years, he kind of just groomed me. It wasn’t so much intentional. It’s just the kind of player he is, he gives you a leadership sense, he has a certain character about him. He got me ready.’

Ravens | Joe Flacco receives unfair criticism

Baltimore Ravens C Matt Birk said QB Joe Flacco does not receive the benefit of the doubt from fans and media. ‘Certain guys don’t get the benefit of the doubt,’ Birk said. ‘He’s shown in big spots that he’s come through most of the time and he can play. Our gameplan isn’t designed to have Joe Flacco throw 450 yards a every game to help us win. That’s not our style of football. I guess that’s not the cool, hip way to play football in the NFL these days.’
